LINKIN PARK GRAND PRIZE AND
COLLEGE CONCERT REMIX CONTEST
OFFICIAL RULES
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. PURCHASES WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCE OF WINNING A PRIZE.
The LINKIN PARK GRAND PRIZE AND COLLEGE CONCERT REMIX CONTEST ("Contest") is open to legal residents of the United States excluding Puerto Rico who are 13 years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees and their immediate family members of Verizon Wireless (“Sponsor/Administrator”), or Tribal Brands, and their respective parent and affiliated companies, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies, and all other companies associated with the Contest, and their respective employees, agents, officers, directors, and their immediate families (parent, siblings, children and spouse), and persons residing in the same household (whether related or not) of such individuals, are not eligible to enter or win. All eligible entries compete for the individual Grand Prize.
The college or university (“School”) that wins the concert portion of the Contest will receive a concert performance by Linkin Park which is strictly subject to the approval of the School’s administration. The contest is open to 4 year, accredited colleges and universities in the United States, excluding trade schools, career schools, and teaching hospital schools.

Contest begins March 7, 2008, at 6:59pm EDT and ends on August 31, 2008 8:59pm EDT (the "Promotion Period").
1. TO ENTER: The Linkin Park Grand Prize and College Concert Remix Contest is an online Contest. Within the Promotion Period, use the Remix Application ("Application") on the Linkin Park Tour Website [www.lpconcerts.com] for free, to make and electronically send a Remix to a friend. A friend is defined as a recipient with a valid email address.
All entrants are eligible for the individual Grand Prize. To have their entry count towards the College Concert portion of the Contest, entrants must select a school from the pull down menu on the entry form. To be eligible to have their Remix judged as the Remix that represents the School (see COLLEGE CONCERT, this section, below) entrant must currently be enrolled at that school.
Using the Application, entrants select various audio tracks from different sets of two songs by artists on the Linkin Park tour and play them at user-selected intervals with the Application. The song sets are:
- Linkin Park "In the End" / "Crawling"
- Linkin Park "Bleed It Out" / ”What I’ve Done”
- Linkin Park "What I’ve Done" / ”Numb”
- Linkin Park "Bleed it Out" / ”Papercut”
- Linkin Park "Given Up" / ”In The End”
- Linkin Park "Given Up" / ”Crawling”
- Linkin Park "Leave Out All The Rest" / Linkin Park "Given Up"
The resulting Remix is stored in a database at the Linkin Park Tour Website and can be accessed through a link that is sent out in an email or posted on Facebook. When a friend clicks on the link in the email or on Facebook, the entrant's Remix will be awarded a 'prop'. A 'prop' is defined as a visit to the entrant's Remix.
GRAND PRIZE - At the end of the contest, the 20 entrants with the most 'props' for all of their Remix entries will be the Grand Prize Finalists and have their best Remix submitted for judging.
COLLEGE CONCERT – At the end of the contest:
- The 20 schools with the most individual Remix submissions from the entry form will be the Finalist Schools.
- From each of these schools, the individual Remixes that have the most props will be sorted in order from highest to lowest
- The first Remix that has a score of 6.6 or higher (See GRAND PRIZE REMIX AND COLLEGE CONCERT JUDGING, Section 2, below), for each school and is submitted by a student currently enrolled at that school, will be declared the Remix that represents the Top 20 school in the competition.
Enter as often as you like. All entries must be received no later than 8:59pm (EDT) August 31, 2008. All entries become the sole property of Cellco Partnership d/b/a Verizon Wireless ("Verizon Wireless"), and receipt of entries will not be acknowledged. Incomplete entries are void. Lost, illegible, or incomplete entries will be deemed ineligible and disqualified.
In the event of a dispute regarding entries received from multiple users having the same online entry account, you will be required to provide the name of the authorized subscriber of the online entry account at the time of entry and that person will be deemed to be the entrant and must comply with these Official Rules. The "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by a telephone company, wireless service provider, Internet access provider, Internet service provider or other organization (e.g. business, educational, institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning email addresses. Verizon Wireless and Tribal Brands ("Contest Entities") and their respective parents, subsidiaries, and affiliates are not responsible for late, lost, incomplete, misdirected, or damaged entries or for technical, hardware, software or telephone malfunctions of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incorrect, incomplete, inaccurate, garbled or delayed electronic communications caused by the sender, or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in this Contest which may limit the ability to play the music or participate, or by any human error that may occur in the processing of the entries in this Contest. If for any reason (including infection by computer virus, bugs, worms, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other cause beyond reasonable control of Contest Entities and their respective parents, subsidiaries, and affiliates, that corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Contest), this Contest is not capable of being conducted as described in these Official Rules, Contest Entities shall have the right, at their sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend this Contest, and select the Grand Prize and College Concert Winners from entries received prior to action taken, or as otherwise deemed fair and appropriate by Contest Entities, and reserve the right to prosecute any fraudulent entries to the fullest extent of the law and, at the Sponsor's sole discretion, Contest winner may be disqualified.
2. GRAND PRIZE REMIX AND COLLEGE CONTEST JUDGING: The "Grand Prize" Winner and the “College Concert” Winner will be selected on or about September 10, 2008. The band Linkin Park or a representative of the band will select the best Remix submitted by an eligible Entrant for the "Grand Prize" Winner and the “College Concert” Winner (see Section 1, above) based on three completely subjective criteria, i.e., flow, impact and variety. The score for each criterion will be rated on a scale from 1-10 (10 being the best score). Each criterion will be given equal weighting (33%) when determining the entry's final score. The criteria can be more specifically described as follows:
- Flow: the Remix should have good musicality, dance-ability, grooves, jives, makes you tap your feet;
- Impact: timing of selected instruments both to build and introduce unexpected elements, pulls listener along, keeps things interesting; and
- Variety: creative use of the various instruments available.
The prize awarded is subject to the restrictions and limitations noted in these Official Rules, on the prize components, and/or included with the prize components. The Winner must abide by all stated limitations and restrictions. The Winner will be notified by email. The Winner must respond to such notification within 72 hours after the notification is sent or an alternate winner shall be selected from the remaining eligible entrants. Sponsor's decisions in all matters relating to this Contest are final.
3. PRIZE: One (1) individual Grand Prize Remix Winner, selected in the process described in Section 2 above, will receive will receive $4,000 cash (payable by check).
In addition, the School represented by the winning Remix (the “College Concert Winner”) will be awarded: a concert featuring Linkin Park, to be performed at or near the winning school on a mutually agreeable date in the fall of 2008. Winner will be responsible for hosting the concert and providing all administrative oversight of the concert (seating, security, venue insurance, concessions, if any, etc.). Concert is subject to Linkin Park’s availability and Sponsor shall have no liability to winner in the event of any rescheduling, postponement, or cancellation of the concert. Sponsor further reserves the right to substitute without liability a different artist in the event of Linkin Park’s unavailability or for any other reason. Approximate retail value: $-0-. All federal, state, and local taxes and fees, including income tax, sales tax and license fees, and any other expenses arising out of the receipt and use of the prizes, are solely the responsibility of the winner. Any difference between the stated estimated value of a prize and its actual value will not be awarded. Winner agrees to accept prize “as is.”
Winner does not retain any rights to the "Remix" or the "Underground Logo" created by the Remix Application. Winner shall grant any and all property rights to the Remix and Underground Logo, if any, to Verizon Wireless.
Prize only includes what is described above. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. Prize is non-transferable, non-assignable and not redeemable for cash. Contest Entity, in its discretion, may substitute a prize (or prize component) of equal or greater value for any reason. The Winner must be 13 years of age or older. If the Winner is a minor under the law of his/her jurisdiction of residence then his/her parent/legal guardian will be required to execute all documents, or the Winner will be disqualified.
4. ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS FOR "GRAND PRIZE " WINNER: The Grand Prize Winner or legal guardian, if applicable, will be required to execute an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability Release and Advertising Consent, with their original signature no later than 5 p.m. (EDT) on September 20, 2008 (the "Grand Prize Remix Affidavit Deadline"), or the Winner will be disqualified and an alternate Winner may be selected.
For an alternate Winner and his/her legal guardian, the "Grand Prize Remix Affidavit Deadline" will be extended slightly to a date and time, to be determined by Sponsor, recognizing that all required documents must be executed and provided to Contest Entity in sufficient time for the Winner to claim his/her prize. In addition, prior to receiving his/her prize, the Winner will be required to provide a W-9 Tax Form. If appropriate, the Winner will be issued a Form 1099 by Administrator in an amount equivalent to the full value of the "Grand Prize Remix."
If the Winner is a minor under the laws of his/her jurisdiction of residence, prize will be awarded to his or her parent or legal guardian and his or her respective parent or legal guardian will be required to execute an Affidavit acknowledging, confirming and consenting to the Liability Release and Publicity Consent, and provide a valid photo identification (i.e., state driver's license, passport, student identification card) prior to the Winner's receipt of prize. If parent or legal guardian is unable to execute the documentation, an alternate Winner will be selected. The selected alternate Winner will receive all of the prize components.
6. GENERAL: By entering, all entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and by the decisions of the Contest Entities, which shall be final and binding. By accepting a prize, the Winner grants to Contest Entities and Linkin Park the right to use his/her name, likeness, image, voice, hometown, and biographical information in advertising, trade and promotion, including on the Internet or via wireless application protocol, without further compensation, notice, or permission, except where prohibited by law. Winner will be required to complete, sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability Release and Publicity Consent within 5 days or prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate. Any individual who attempts or otherwise encourages, directly or indirectly, the entry of multiple or false contact information under multiple identities, by cellular phone, or uses any device or artifice to enter or encourage, directly or indirectly, multiple or false entries, as determined by the Contest Entities, will be disqualified.
By participating, entrants and Winner agree to release and hold harmless Contest Entities and Linkin Park, and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, subsidiaries, contractors, suppliers, and the employees and agents of each from any and all liability for any loss, harm, damage, injury, cost or expense, whatsoever including without limitation, property damage, personal injury and/or death, arising out of participation in this Contest and/or the acceptance, use or misuse of the prize or claims based on defamation, rights of privacy, rights of publicity or merchandise delivery.
Any personal information supplied by any entrant to Contest Entities will be subject to Verizon Wireless' privacy policies and terms of service posted at http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/footer/privacy.jsp. Entrants who do not comply with these Official Rules or attempt to interfere with this Contest in any way shall be disqualified. The use of automated, mechanical, or robotic entry devices or any other conduct that impedes the integrity of the Contest is prohibited and Sponsor may disqualify such entries. Contest is subject to all U.S federal, state, and local laws and regulations. This contest shall be governed by the laws of the state of New Jersey without regard to its conflict of laws provision.
7. INDEMNIFICATION: By entering, entrant agrees to release, hold harmless and indemnify Verizon Wireless, Tribal Brands, Linkin Park, Warner Music Group and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, contractors, directors, officers, governors, employees and agents against any and all liability, damages or causes of action (however named or described), with respect to or arising out of either: (a) entrant's participation in this Contest; and/or (b) the acceptance, receipt, use or misuse of the prize awarded in the promotion, including but not limited to any claims for damage to property, personal injury, death or claims based on defamation, rights of privacy, rights of publicity and/or merchandise delivery. False or deceptive entries or acts will render the entrant ineligible. Contest Entities are not responsible for printing errors in these Official Rules.
8.
